Ralph was born near the location of what is now Timber Lake (Dewey County, SD). [WWI Draft Registration]
In 1910, was a farmer and he and his family were living in Pleasant Township (Jerauld County, SD). They boarded a hired hand, John H. Baldwin, age 16 and born in Missouri, presumably to help around the farm. [U.S. Census]
