From the Find-A-Grave entry for Whittier Cemetery, now defunct: "Founders Memorial Park was once Whittier Cemetery, Mount Olive Cemetery and Broadway Cemetery. The cemeteries had been abandoned in the 1930's. In 1968 the City of Whittier took advantage of legislation allowing the acquisition of the property and created Founders Memorial Park on the four acres of land. Gravestones were removed and two monuments were erected that list the 2380 persons who were buried there.
