General Notes and Anecdotes

In 1821, an area of the town of Concord was formally split off and became the town of Collins. Lydia was born in this area, so although she was technically from Concord (since she was born before the split) a family register records her birthplace as Collins. [family-gilbert-smith-family-tree, book-history-of-concord-1883]

Gilbert and Clarissa moved in with his daughter Mary and her husband George Marris. They are both listed in the 1880 census, with a live-in servant. [census-us-1880-ps-ia-cedar-354-6]
