General Notes and Anecdotes
In Ireland, he was a prosperous, a "man of considerable wealth." Continued persecutions of his Quaker beliefs prompted his emigration from Ireland in the early part of 1683. [book-colonial-families-of-pennsylvania-v1-1911]
The Friends at Mountmellick Meeting signed a Certificate of Removal "Out of this Nation into New Jersey or Pennsylvania in America" for him and his family. Although they gave him a high recommendation, they were unsatisfied with his reasons for leaving. They noted his family had no unmet material needs, but believed he was leaving to avoid suffering as a Quaker at the hands of the church. [book-colonial-families-of-pennsylvania-v1-1911]
He was a man of some conscience, and on 7 Sep 1683 (7 mo 7, 1683) he gave evidence to the Provincial Council about Kilner's ill treatment of the sailors. [book-genealogy-of-the-sharpless-family-1887]

CONFLICTS
Emigration Location: This database uses Mountmellick, County Queens, Ireland. The book Genealogy of the Sharpless Family identifies an emigration point of Mount Melick, County Tyrone, Ireland. However, there is no such place in County Tyrone, and I've been unable to find any historical reference. There is, however, a Mountmellick in County Queens, or County Laois after 1922, with a significant Quaker population at the time of his emigration. [book-genealogy-of-the-sharpless-family-1887]

Was there a Mountmellick (or something along those lines) in County Tyrone, Ireland?
The parents of Nicholas may have been Nicholas Newlin [Jr.] and Jane Hide (m. 4 Aug 1629). The parents of Nicholas Jr. may have been Nicholas Newlin [Sr.] (bap. 1 Mar 1571/2, aka Nycholas Newlande) and Dorythe Gaskkyne, m. 27 Sep 1601. And the father of Nicholas [Sr.] may have been William Newlande (b. 1550, bur. 12 Apr 1593 in Fareham, Hampshire, England).
Nicholas and Elizabeth may have had children who did not emigrate with the couple and three of their children, John, Rachel, and Nathaniel.
Nicholas and Elizabeth (Paggott) Newlin may have had a daughter Elizabeth. Elizabeth Newlin may have married in 1683, Thomas Burton (b. Rasenagh, County Queens, Ireland), with whom she had children Mary, Elizabeth, Rebecca, and Martha. (from History of Chester County, Pennsylvania with Genealogical and Biographical Sketches, J. Nicholas obtained a patent for 500 acres on 24 September 1683, including "part of the headwaters of the west branch of Chester creek" in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. According to an abstract of his will, "Newlin, Nicholas. Concord Township, Chester Co. Yeoman. 2/8/1699. A. 446. Wife Elizabeth; son Nathaniel Newlin; son Nicholas Newlin who had a son Nicholas. Legacies to daughter Elisabeth who seems to be living elsewhere; daughter Rachell; sons-in-law Ephraim Jackson and elsewhere; daughter Rachell; sons-in-law Ephraim Jackson and William Paggett. Estate to son Nathaniel who is sole Executor."
