FOLLOWUP

This database uses Joseph Aimé for his given name. In an interview with his daughter, she noted that her understanding was that he was originally known just by the name Aimé, and changed his name to add Joseph when he joined the military for WWII. However, his birth register entry from the Parish of St. Adolphe of Dudswell shows that he was named Joseph from birth. He does appear to have preferred the shorter Aimé in general use, especially when he was younger. [interview-{private}-2009]

Joseph and a younger sister were cared for by cousins in Rhode Island after Joseph's father died.

Joseph is believed to have had a wife before Estle. They lived in the area of Central Falls, Pawtucket, Rhode Island. There may have been children from this relationship, but he was secretive about his past. [interview-{private}-2009]

A Joseph A. St. Pierre (b. 1910) enlisted as a private in the Army, 11 Sep 1942 in Providence, RI. He was single, and was not yet a citizen of the US, but lived in RI. He had a grammar school education, but was skilled in the fabrication of metal products prior to enlisting. He stood 66" and weighed 128 pounds. (check WWII Army Enlistment Records)
