Both of his parents were from Germany. [census-us-1930-ps-mn-ottertail-51-1a]
Herman was survived by a brother and sister, both living in Vergas, Minnesota. His sister, Minnie, was married to Rudolph Wischnsk. His brother, Rudolph, is probably the Rudolph Kratzke shown on line 4 of the same page of the 1930 U.S. Census record as Herman. If it is the same Rudolph, then the parents of all three (who were then living with Rudolph) were Ludwig and Emelia W. Kratzke, both born in Germany. The had immgrated to the U.S. in 1892 and were both naturalized citizens by 1930. [census-us-1930-ps-mn-ottertail-51-1a]
