Research Notes (Conflicts/Spelling/Followup)

CONFLICTS

Birth Date: This database uses 24 Jun 1828. The 1880 U.S. Census gives an age of (52), which, when applied to the offical census date of 1 June 1880 gives a birth date range from 2 June 1827 to 1 June 1828. [census-us-1880-ps-wi-columbia-32-211]

SPELLING

Given Name: This database uses Baard. A family group sheet uses Boord. [family-boord-ingebord-johnson-notes]

FOLLOWUP

Boord and Ingebord and their first three children may have emigrated before 1862, as implied by the birth information for their children. However, it is not known if they emigrated as a family or if one or more emigrated separately. [census-us-1880-ps-wi-columbia-32-211]

There exists a headstone in Bonnet Prarie Cemetery, in Rio, Columbia County, WI, USA for Baard Johnson, b. 1828, d. 1914.

According to son Henry's obituary, Henry had a sister who married Martin Dyrness and lived in Eddy County, North Dakota. I have little information on most of the children. Could this be Karel? [obituary-henry-johnson-1930-nrt]

According to son Henry's obituary, Henry had four brothers: Martin (of Brantford), Ole B. (of Rio), Charles (of Rio), and Thomas (of Rio). Martin, Ole B, and Thomas (Tomas) are already known. Charles is not. What about Ole W.? [obituary-henry-johnson-1930-nrt]

It is curious that five of Baard's seven children have the middle initial 'B'. Could this be for Burnett, the middle name of his son Henry's own son? It is also curious that two sons are named Ole, and differentiated only by their middle name. [family-boord-ingebord-johnson-notes]
