My original information used the name James Russell Lanning. This reverses his given names, which are really Russell James Lanning and that is now being used. [interview-{private}-2008]

Russel Lanning may have used the nickname Russ. His father was probably John Allen Lanning, and his mother was probably Beulah Mary Putnam. [research-a-spear-family-history]
