General Notes and Anecdotes

In 1830, bothers William, Robert, James, Samuel, David, Andrew, and Joseph Spear were all living in separate households in Kirkwood Township, Ohio. The record also suggests that Robert and William were next-door neighbors, as were James, David, and Andrew. [census-us-1830-ps-oh-belmont-kirkwood]

FOLLOWUP

Birth and Death Information

William may have been born 2 May 1791 in Virginia and married Margaret Burton on 20 Dec 1830 in Guernsey County, Ohio. He may have died 27 Oct 1873 in Fairview, Gurnsey County, Ohio, and buried in Methodist Church Cemetery, in Oxford Township, Guernsey County, Ohio. [research-a-spear-family-history]

I'm also finding evidence for a William Spear that was born in Pennsylvania rather than Virginia. Is the expected birthplace correct (it seems to fit with what is known of his suspected siblings so far) but could there be more to the story of the family? Or is the Pennsylvania clan simply a different Spear lineage?

Other References

The 1830 U.S. Census identifies the household as containing William but no female over 10 (Catherine had probably died, and he didn't marry Margaret until December). There are also one boy between 5 and 10, and one between 10 and 15 (unknown), and two girls under 5 and one between 5 and 10 (unknown). [census-us-1830-ps-oh-belmont-kirkwood]
