Notes:

Many assignments and attachment details have been left out for this short summary. In 1862 Daniel enlisted in Company A of the 59th Indiana Infantry along with three cousins. I don't have any records on when he was on furlough, but a brief summary of the regiment follows.

This unit fought in the Battle of Corinth [3-4 Oct 1862], the Siege of Vickburg [18 May to 4 Jul 1863], and the Savannah Campaign (aka the March to the Sea) [15 Nov 1864 to 22 Dec 1864].

I don't have the date on which he was mustered out.

There are six Spear families listed in the 1870 census who were living near Daniel and Rebecca.
