In 1900, Willis was a farmer in Union Township (Rawlins County, KS).

An article in the Lincoln Daily Star reported than Mattie filed for divorce from Willis Dole about 27 May 1915. According to the article, he left her 16 Mar 1913. Only Viola was still at home at the time, and Martha sought custody.

In 1930, he was a night watchman for a hotel in Santa Cruz (Santa Cruz County, CA).

There exist multiple voter registration records for Willis P. Dole in Santa Cruz County between 1920 and 1938 (and Los Angeles County in 1924). He was a registered republican and identiifed as a fireman, laborer, or gardener, depending on the year. All have the same residence address from 1926, before that a couple of different addresses (one on the same street) are represented.
