Ralph was born near the location of what is now Timber Lake (Dewey County, SD). [WWI Draft Registration]

In 1910, was a farmer and he and his family were living in Pleasant Township (Jerauld County, SD). They boarded a hired hand, John H. Baldwin, age 16 and born in Missouri, presumably to help around the farm. [U.S. Census]

In 1930, 17-year old William Hanson was working and living on the Winegar farm. [U.S. Census]

The 1930 U.S. Census indicates Ralph was first married at 21, but I believe this is a mistake.
