Gustav and Tina were born, raised, and married in Germany. They immigrated to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania sometime in the 1870's, but after a few years they returned to Germany. The remained in Germany for a few years until they returned, this time to Blue Earth County, Minnesota. There they farmed until 1896 when they moved to Felton Township, Clay County, Minnesota.
