General Notes and Anecdotes

Thomas was the first Friends ministor of record to cross the Ohio River and preach in the "Northwest Territory." [book-american-quaker-genealogy-v4-1946]

He was buried in a cofin created from a solid white walnut tree, pre-chosen by Thomas. The tree was hollowed out by his friend Jesse Baldwin, assisted by Enoch Cox and others, and covered by a lid made from the same tree. [book-american-quaker-genealogy-v4-1946]

Research Notes (Conflicts/Spelling/Followup)

FOLLOWUP

Thomas is mentioned in multiple volumes of The Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy. Although these are in the "same" authored work, the original data came from different meetings of the Society of Friends, so the raw data is from independent sources. However, the information from Volume 4 was mostly found in a narrative called "The Planting" (largely about his missionary work in Ohio). Since this information might have come from more than one volume, any references (except for his name) that come from this narrative are not combined with any other information from any volume in this work.
