General Notes and Anecdotes

Marguerite married Earle Meadows some six months before telling anyone, even Marguerite's father, Clyde Caswell. According to the Los Angeles Times, "... when the [USC] Trojans and Stanford tangled for high-point honors in the conference meet at the Coliseum last May 29, Meadows and Miss Caswell agreed that if he suceeded in breaking the world's pole-vault record of 14ft. 8-1/2in. they'd celebrate by getting married./He did---and they did."
