General Notes and Anecdotes

In 1880, the household included a live-in hired hand (presumably for the farm) named Oscar Wilson. Also living with her family was the family of her father, Gilbert Smith, which included Clarissa, Gilbert's second wife, and a live-in servant, 27-year old Elsie Boss. Mary, along with her husband George and their children Emmor, Eva, Emily, Lillie, Walter, and Florence, were early members of the Wichita Methodist Church, dedicated in June 1898. [periodical-wichita-church-bicentennial-1976]
