Lewis married (1818) Sidney Hoopes (b. 8 Jul 1792). Sidney met Lewis while she was traveling to Ohio with her sister Debe Dewees (nee Hoopes), and he was traveling to visit his family in the East. They resided initially in Belmont. Sidney died 25 Aug 1879 in McConnellsville, Morgan County, Ohio. [research-genealogy-of-the-smedley-family-1901]
