General Notes and Anecdotes
Al and Ruby lived on her father's homestead near Creighton, South Dakota. The homestead was somewhat remote. One of the Rapid City Journal newspaper's news editors had taken some aerial photographs from a helicopter in March, to help show the results of a severe spring snowstorm. Included in these were the Davis homestead. After presenting prints of their home to Al and Ruby, she wrote back, "We love the large pix you took from the sky. I thank you very much for your splendid courtesy. ... We are unable to subscribe to your very fine daily paper. But, you see, it is sometimes six weeks between pickups of our mail. So you see, the mail box would usually be filled with daily papers covering at least a week-old news." [periodical-the-weekender-1975]

FOLLOWUP
Ruby and Al's marriage announcement in 1951 indicated that Ruby was a former teacher in Pedro. However, her memorial card indicated she taught for 40 years after her graduation in 1930, meaning until 1970. Was this because she had changed school location, or perhaps more likely, because had stopped teaching, but returned to teaching after her marriage? [periodical-friday-ceremony-unites-couple-1951, memorialcard-ruby-breck-1995]
An obituary for Ruby Davis Morgan Breck was published in the 29 Oct 1995 issue of the Rapid City Journal (Rapid City, South Dakota), page C2. However, it is largely identical to her memorial card (a physical copy is stored in the source archives for this database) It was likely written by the same author (or one was a copy of the other), and doesn't provide any additional information. Therefore it has not been included here.
