Research Notes (Conflicts/Spelling/Followup)
Birth Date: This database uses 6 Jan 1826. The obituary for Luhany (Brennit) Karns gives a date of 12 Jan 1825. [obituary-luhany-brennit-1904]
The 1870 U.S. Census shows an entry for Enos and Luhanna Karnes living in Morgan, Mercer County, Missouri on page 54/179B (image 54 in the Ancestry database). However, despite the many similarities with respect to other sources, there are also many discrepencies, and I'm not convinced it is the same couple.
Luhany was survived by three daughters, "Mrs. J. W. Smith" (Decatur County, Kansas), "Mrs. T. J. Spear" (Decatur County, Kansas) [Samantha] and "Mrs. Wiggins" (Princeton, Missouri). She was also survived by three sons; Sig Karnes (Oberlin, Kansas), Patton Karns (Oklahoma) and James Karns (Oklahoma). After her husband Enos' death, she stayed with her children, but mostly with Sig. [obituary-luhany-brennit-1904]
