Birth Date: This database uses 18 Feb 1664/65. The book Colonial and Revolutionary Families of Pennsylvania offers a date of "about 1660." [book-colonial-families-of-pennsylvania-v1-1911]
Emigration Location: This database uses Mountmellick, County Queens, Ireland. The book Genealogy of the Sharpless Family claims an emigration point of Mount Melick, County Tyrone, Ireland. FOLLOWUP
The 500 acres that had been surveyed to Nathaniel's father in 1683 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, were surveyed to Nathaniel on 2 Apr 1703. The next year, he built a stone grist mill there, on the west branch of Chester Creek. The mill operated commercially until 1941, under several families (Newlin, Trimble, Shapless, and Hill). It was purchaed by E. Mortimer Newlin (a descendent of Nathaniel) and his wife Elizabeth in 1956, who founded the Nicholas Newlin Foundation in 1960 and restored the now unused millworks.
