Comment Detail: Source does not include a date, but notes that his widow, Judith Palmer, signed a deed on 29 Nov 1661 without any mention of her husband. There is no wording that she was a widow, but the fact she signed the deed hereself suggests her husband had died before this. Further, a record on 9 Mar 1660 notes that William Palmer was fined 5 shillings, suggesting he was alive on that date. This gives a range that is approximated in this database as about 1660-1661.

General Notes and Anecdotes
The Palmer Familes in America notes two distinct William Palmers; both lived during the same period and in relatively close proximity in London, and both were in New England. These are William Palmer of Plymouth, and William Palmer of Yarmouth (and Duxbury, and Newton). The William Palmer represented by this entry (the one who married Judith Feake) is William Palmer of Yarmouth. [book-palmer-families-in-america-1966 (page 13)]
William Palmer (of Yarmouth) was given the rank of Lieutenant by the Court at Plymouth, in a compnay created to combat the Indians. The court also (appointed? commissioned?) Miles Standish as Captain of the company. [book-palmer-families-in-america-1966 (page 9)]

The Palmer Families in America relates a lot of information about William's involvement with the establishment of Plymouth Colony starting on page 9. This also includes his identity (versus that of William Palmer of Plymouth) and notes similarities between them as well as distinctions and apparent documentation errors. These details are (mostly) not included here. Also, since this information is mostly available in other records that are more direct than this authored work, these should be consulted when I concentrate on research for this family. William Palmer and Judith Feake had several children. The source suggests an oldest child, William who must have died before 1654, when the William included in this database was born. This older child who died young is included based on Palmer family customs of naming the oldest male and female child for the father and mother, respectively. The other children were identified, not through birth records but by legal deeds [I'm not sure exactly what deeds] as Ephraim, John, James, William, Joseph, Judith, and Susanna.
