Florence's middle name was probably Gertrude.
Florence may have used Gertrude in preference to Florence. In an interview, Cora (Spear) McQuisten wrote, "... I think it was Aunt Lillie, had a daughter named Gertrude and who went went to Chicago and worked in Marshall Fields, I think." [interview-cora-mcquisten-2007]
The 1940 U.S. Census shows a Gertrude Stilwell, born in Iowa, working in Chicago as a County Hospital nurse.
