Given Name: This database uses Ferdinand. An interview uses Ferdianard, which is presumed to be a misspelling. [interview-loretta-spear-2006]
The 1892 New York census does not differentiate familes or even dwellings, but names appear to be collected by dwelling, and the individuals are (generally) listed like most census. That is, head-of-household first, spouse next, children from oldest to youngest next, and others last. Although Ferdinand is not listed in the 1892 New York census, Charlie (17, born in Poland) appears to be occupying his expected space. However, it is not known if his name was Charlie Ferdinand Marks (or Ferdinand Charlie Marks), or if this is a different person entirely. [census-us-newyork-1892-kings-17-1-2]
There was a Ferdinand W. Marks, born in 1887 in Eden (near Fond du Lac) and married Hazel Mangus in 1958 [when he was ~71]. He died 25 Mar 1971, as reported in the Leader-Telegram, Eau Claire, Wisconsin on 26 Mar 1971 (page 5). He was survived by his wife, a daughter (Mrs. Herman Blasel), and a sister (Mrs. George Papenfuss), and numerous descendents. It doesn't mention a first wife, but I suspect it is likely he had one. However, his 26 Mar 1971 obituary in the Chippewa Herald-Telegram in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin (page 4) notes he was the son of Fedreick Marks, so he is not in this lineage.
There was a "Mrs. Ferdinand Marks" (nee Clara Weber) who died 27 Feb 1949, as reported in an obituary in The Daily Tribute, Wisonsin Rapids, Wisconsin, on 28 Feb 1949 (page 11). However, according to her husband's obituary she was married to Ferdinand H. Marks (1871-1960), who was the son of Ferdinand Marks, Sr., was born in Germany, and is clearly not this lineage. His obituary was on page 2 of the 14 Dec 1960 issue of The Daily Tribune, Wisonsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
