FOLLOWUP
Sarah's parents may have been Absalom and Nancy (_____) Fouts. [book-history-of-dakota-territory-v5-1915]
Emma Fouts was living with Joseph and Sarah on 1 Jun 1860. She was presumably Sarah's sister. [census-us-1860-ps-il-henry-geneseo-22]
In 1870, Augusta Nelson (age 19, seamstress, born in Sweden), Etzy[?] Fouts (age 41, carpenter, born in Ohio), and Lewis Border (age 26, carpenter, born in Ohio) were also living with Joseph and Sarah's family. Etzy Fouts was probably Sarah's brother, and Lewis may have married Belle Spear (T. J. Spear's daughter) in 1922, though why he was boarding with Joseph and Sarah, or if he knew them, is unknown. It is also unknown who Augusta was. [census-us-1870-ps-il-henry-geneseo-13]
Sarah died sometime after 1915. She was mentioned as living in Wessington Springs in the History of Dakota Territory, which was published in 1915. [book-history-of-dakota-territory-v5-1915]
