His birth date is unknown, but the 1910 US Census puts a limit on the date. As of the official census date (15 Apr 1910) Emma is reported to have given birth to 3 children, and all were still living and listed in the census: Arthur, Edward (distinct from his father), and Harry. So this unnamed individual was probably not born before the official census date of 15 Apr 1910 (or 16 Apr 1910, the date the family was actually enumerated). Had he been born before and simply not included in the count because Edward and Emma wanted to forget, he probably wouldn't be known at all. [census-us-1910-ps-mn-ottertail-137-2a]
An interview identifies his parents as Edward Marks and Hattie Swanson Marks. However, the interview also identifies several other children as Hattie's who are actually children of Edward's first wife, Emma. (They were Hattie's step or adopted children, except possibly for Ada -- see research notes for Ada Marks.) [interview-loretta-spear-2006]
It is possible he was born after the census (Apr 1910, about 17 months after Henry's birth) and before Ada's likely conception (about Oct 1910, about 23 months after Henry's birth), or after Ada (Jul 1911), but before Emma's death (Jun 1913). Those are spans of two years between births, but but those are relatively short periods between sibling conceptions and births (in the first case, Ada would have been born only a year after "baby boy". Therefore, at least for now in this database, he is presumed to have been Hattie's child.
If he is Hattie's child, the first "reasonable" open spot appears to be about 1920. This is after Pearl, Hattie's last child specifically known to this database. Hattie was in her early thirtiies at the time, so it would not be unreasonable for her to give birth to a child then.
