After they married, Harold and Idella took over Harold's family farm, operating it until they retired to Rose Lake in 1974. Harold subsequently worked for Swift's, hauling turkeys across Minnesota. [obituary-harold-neu-2016]

Harold enjoyed woodworking (many of his projects ended up in the Attic Shop, a gift shop in Vergas). He aloso enjoyed fishing, league bowling, and dancing. [obituary-harold-neu-2016]
