Research Notes (Conflicts/Spelling/Followup)

CONFLICTS

Given Name: This database uses Anne. The book, Baronetage of England [etc.], uses the first name Agnes. [book-baronetage-of-england-v1-1771]

FOLLOWUP

Anne's parents were Henry, 10th Baron de Clifford ("The Shepherd Lord") and Anne St. John. Both Henry and Anne (the mother), as well as Anne Clifford (the daughter, this individual), can be found in numerous and well-documented histories, outlining their lineage to English royalty through at least two paths. Two of these are represented in the sources for this individual, but there are many others. [book-baronetage-of-england-v1-1771, book-plantagenet-ancestry-2004, periodical-samuel-levis-quaker-immigrant-1999]

One lineage runs through Cliford, to Percy to Mortimer, to Philippa of England, to Lionel of Antwerp, to Edward III of England. [periodical-samuel-levis-quaker-immigrant-1999]

Another lineage runs through the Clifford and Berkeley lineages to Dover, to FitzRoy, to John of England and a mistress, Adela(?) de Warenne. This is the John of Magna Carta and Robin Hood fame, son of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine. [book-plantagenet-ancestry-2004]
