Research Notes (Conflicts/Spelling/Followup)
CONFLICTS
Birth Date: This database uses 18 April 1911. The marriage certificate for Harold and Ida gives an age of (27) *at his next birthday*. When applied to the certificate date of 18 Jul 1938 (with the apparent age on that date of 26), gives a birth date range from 19 July 1911 to 18 July 1912. However, the use of the "next" birthday is a little unusual, and it is reasonable that he entered 27 as his current age, not what it would be on his next birthday. This would move the birth date range back a year and remove this conflict. [marriage-allgier-miller-1938]
Birth Location: This database uses Lake Andes, South Dakota. The marriage certificate for Harold and Ida indicates his place of birth was North Dakota. However, there is no evidence that he was ever in North Dakota, and the certificate has an odd-looking 'N' for "North," suggesting an overlaid 'S'. Did the person recording this infrormation try to change "North" to "South"? [marriage-allgier-miller-1938]
Residence Location (1940): This database uses Lodomillo Township, Clayton County, Iowa. Harold's obituary indicates he was living in the Black Hills for "about 40" years prior to his death in 1974, suggesting he was in the hills since about 1934.
