Research Notes (Conflicts/Spelling/Followup)

CONFLICTS

Given Name: This database uses Mary Anne. The registry entry for her marriage with Thomas Spear uses Margaret. [marriage-spear-shafer-1859]

Birth Date: This database uses 30 July 1840. Using her date of death (Nov. 28, 1887) and age (47y's. 3 Mo. & 28 D's) as inscribed on her headstone gives a birth date of 31 July 1840. This differs from other sources by a single day, and may be a calculation error by either the sculptor, or by the algorithm in the calculator I used. Note that interpreting 1900 as a leap year would add the offending day. [marker-mary-spear-1887]

FOLLOWUP

Mary may have been born 30 Jul 1840 in Mt. Ephraim, Gurnsey County, Ohio. [research-a-spear-family-history]
