Birth Location: This database uses Virginia. Her daughter's certificate of death gives Ireland(?). [death-margaret-patterson-1918]
FOLLOWUP
Note that some genealogies show a "marriage" date of 13 Dec 1821 for Robert and Margaret. However, that is the date of an affadavit written by Robert, not their marriage, which occured a week later. Unfortunately, the contents of the affadavit to which I have access are almost illegible, and the need for it is unknown. Was it a formality, or was it to confirm his freedom to marry based on an earlier event? Specifically, since 29 is somewhat old for a first marriage, especially in the early 1800s, was Robert married before Margaret? [marriage-spear-mcbride-affidavit-1821]
There are many individuals named Margaret McBride in Ireland and Scotland. Plus one from the Dutch Reformed Church in Albany, NY, states that *a* Margaret McBride was born 20 Feb 1795 and her brother George in 1797. However, none of these provide sufficient information to indicate they are this individual.
