The name Walter Sahl/Saul as Anna Johnson's wife in the late 1940s, was verbally related to the original maintaner of this database, Bradley Spear. I don't have a clear memory of who mentioned it, but it was probably Loretta Spear.
He may be Walter William Saul, b. 6 Jan 1905 in Los Angeles, CA, d. 16 Dec 1965 in Kern County, CA. Buried in Union Cemetery, Bakersfield, CA, plot "Haven of Rest 724-24." (Find A Grave memorial 108442530). If the contributed information is correct, his parents may be John Edward Saul (1858-1936) and Emma (Linder) Saul (1872-1957), and may have a brother John Fletcher Saul (1899-1978).
He may have married Marrila L. Clark, 9 Jul 1927 in Los Angeles. (Book 738, page 232. (Ancestry database California, U.S., County Birth, Marriage, and Death Records, 1849-1980, path "Los Angeles ⟩ Marriage ⟩ 1927," image 78)
Walter and Anna were probably living in or near Los Angeles in 1948. This is based on the fact that her brother Harold's obituary did not mention the couple coming for the funeral from out of the area, while it did note that for her brother Oscar and his wife. [obituary-harold-johnson-1948]
A Walter W. Saul, divorced, was living in Kern County, California in the 1950 U.S. Census, by himself. He was 45 at the time (birthdate between 2 Apr 1904 and 1 Apr 1905), born in California, and working as an office manager for a trucking firm.
