FOLLOWUP

John had at least two siblings, brothers H. U. Burkett (Houston, Texas) and T. I. Burkett (Mapleton, Iowa). [obituary-john-burkett-1918]

Beyond Benjamin Burkett, who is included in this database, John and Margaret had one other son and five daughters. Their other son was J. A. Burkett (McDonald, Kansas). Their daughters are not identified except as the wives of E. E. Wilton (Arapahoe, Nebraska), C. W. Spears (Haigler, Nebraska), W. S. Reames (LaFayette, Colorado), and C. E. Johnson (Benkleman, Nebraska). The fifth daughter died in childhood. [obituary-john-burkett-1918]

One of these daughters may be Frances, who has a memorial on Find A Grave.

Another may be Catharine, born about 1893, and living in Logan, Rawlins County, Kansas in 1910. (from the 1910 U.S. Census)

John's obituary notes that he didn't unite with any church after moving to Blakeman, due to "feeble health." However, he did live over 25 years in Blakeman. [obituary-john-burkett-1918]

John has a memorial on Find A Grave.
