FOLLOWUP
Martha had her father's consent to marry William Larison, since she was only 17. [marriage-larison-bowersock-1881]
She secondly married _____ _____, then thirdly married _____ Preston, who died before 1904. She been married three times and was a widow before she (Mrs. Mattie Preston) married E. J. Adams, her fourth husband. [marriage-adams-preston-1904
Her third husband's name may be Samuel Preston, from a marriage license granted 2 Jul 1892, and a return dated 17 Jul 1892. Her surname in this record also suggests Samuel Preston was her second, not third husband, which would mean (1) her marriage record with E. J. Adams (which explicitly names her parents) is incorrect (she was married twice, not three times before, or (2) she was married before William Larison (highly unlikely), or (3) she restored her previous married surname after her second marriage (unusual), or (4) her second husband's surname was also Preston (unusual), or (5) this record is for a different person. (from a public picture of Samuel Preston and Mattie Larison's marriage record, found in a search on Martha Jane Bowersock on Ancestry; likely held in Athens County, Ohio marriage records; page 14, entry 2.)
