Research Notes (Conflicts/Spelling/Followup)

SPELLING

Middle name: This database uses Harvey. A family bible registry spells it Harvy. [family-bible-register-joseph-and-sarah-spear]

FOLLOWUP

In his younger years [presumably before 1900 when he turned 18, possibly earlier] his time was spent between Rawlins County, KS with his mother and Decatur County, KS with his grandmother. [obituary-harvey-fisher-1967]

The 1930 US Census notes that Harvey's first marriage was when he was 24 (Oct 1906 to 1907) and Laura's when she was 22 (about 1906). Their first marriage was probably to each other, but this isn't explicit in the census record. [census-us-1930-ps-ks-decatur-20-23-3a]

In his 1942 draft registration card, Harvey explicitly notes he had no middle name by using "(none)" in the field, giving his full name as Harvey Fisher. And the information stored in his SSA record does not appear to include the name Samuel. Did he discount that name? [military-draftreg-harvey-fisher-1942]

Some of his residence locations are Oberlin, Decatur County, KS, USA. However, this is probably his post office location, since his obituary notes that he had lived on his own farm in Olive Township, Decatur County, KS, USA for 45 years [continuously] before his 1967 death, or since 1922.
