CONFLICTS

Immigration Date: This database uses 3 or 4 Sep 1912. The 1915 New Jersey census includes years (3) living in the United States, which, when applied to the official census date of 1 Jun 1915 gives an immigration date range from 2 Jun 1911 to 1 Jun 1912. [census-us-nj-1915-morris-boonton-10b]

FOLLOWUP

Both of Joseph Rizzi's parents were born in Switzerland. [census-us-1920-ps-nj-hudson-318-2b, census-us-nj-1915-morris-boonton-10b]

Joseph's mother's birth surname was Gaetti. (Ancestry database, California, U.S., Death Index, 1940-1997; name: Joseph William Rizzi).

An 1897 marriage record exists for Giuseppe Rizzi and Maria Gilardoni, married in Bellagio, Como, Italia. (Ancestry, Como and Lecco, Lombardy, Italy, Civil Registration Records, 1866-1936 database)

In the manifest for the ship on which Joseph and Marie Rizzi and their family immigrated to the United States, their destination was Secaucus, New Jersey. This is noted twice: (1) under the "Final Destination" column on the left-hand page, and (2) under the "going to join a relative or friend" column on the right-hand page, which also notes they are intending to stay with brother Albert Rizzi (presumably Joseph's brother). The first appears to overwrite an earlier destination of New York. Was the New York address a mistake of the clerk who entered the information, or had they changed plans? [misc-ship-manifest-rijndam-1912-09-04]

Joseph Rizzi and Marie L. Launay obtained a marriage license (#12783) on 16 May 1916 in Manhattan, New York. They were likely married that day or shortly after, but I don't have a return. Is this a different couple? Did they (re)marry in the U.S.? (from an Ancestry database with images, New York, New York, U.S., Marriage License Indexes, 1907-2018 "⟩ Manhattan ⟩ 1916" images 1299 [Joseph Rizzi's entry] and 901 [Marie L. Launay's entry]. Note that although the book is set up with grooms on the left and brides on the right of the page spread, individuals are strictly sorted by their unmarried surname. This means that the individuals are generally found on separate pages.)
