Research Notes (Conflicts/Spelling/Followup)

CONFLICTS

Given Name: This database uses Joseph P. The 1880 US Census uses Joseph F. [marker-joseph-masters-1891]

FOLLOWUP

Both of Joseph's parents were born in Ohio. [census-us-1880-ps-oh-washington-227-2b]

The date of Joseph and Talitha's marriage is presumed to be before their oldest child's birth date.

There exists a marriage record for Joseph P. Masters on 3 May 1869 in Washington County, Ohio, but the spouse is Tabitha Statler. The first name could be incorrect simply though a mistake on the part of the justice of the peace who reported the marriage, since Talitha is an unusual name. However, the last name is considerably different, and a marriage year of 1869 is a little late. (from "Ohio, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1774-1993" database on Ancestry)
